AUSTIN, TX – Katana Graph, the AI-powered Graph Intelligence Platform providing faster, deeper and more accurate insights on massive and complex data, announced today that industry veteran Barry Zane will be joining the company as Vice President of Engineering. Barry brings over 20 years of experience of leading data analytics and database management companies, with 10 of those years focused in graph technology. In this role, Zane will be responsible for further developing the company’s Graph Intelligence Platform’s query engine to rapidly identify data patterns, anomalies, and business insights at unmatched scale and performance.

Zane has built a career around leading various data analytics companies by agilely executing technical product development, revenue goals, and customer satisfaction. He joins Katana Graph from Cambridge Semantics, a leading data management and enterprise analytics software company. There, he held the role of Vice President of Engineering, focused on the company’s query engine. Prior to that, as founder and CEO of SPARQL City, Inc., he built an analytic engine for unstructured data from the ground up, which was used to provide security, ACID, and other features to make its own commercial adoption more simple.

Zane's long career has led to a focused expertise in databases, data warehousing and data analytics. Before SPARQL, Barry held a variety of technical and leadership roles at ParAccel, Inc., Netezza, and Applix. As founder and CTO of ParAccel, Inc., he helped construct the highest performance database system for large scale and complex data analysis, which was implemented as the core of Amazon Web Services' data warehousing technology. Prior to this, as co-founder and the vice president of architecture and technology at Nateeza, he pioneered and led the build of data warehouse systems, which revolutionized the big data industry.
